Does the model year change what a Volkswagen Golf R sells for at auction?

Usually yes, and not evenly. Open the year links to see where the Volkswagen Golf R final-bid curve flattens — that flat stretch is where salvage buying tends to pay best.

Are these final bids what a repaired Volkswagen Golf R would sell for?

No. These are auction results for damaged or salvage Volkswagen Golf R vehicles — the price at the close of the sale, before transport, fees and repair. Retail value sits well above them.
