Why would a local car have a US auction record?
Large numbers of damaged and total-loss vehicles are bought at US and Canadian auctions, shipped out, repaired and resold on local markets. The repair changes how the car looks — it does not change the VIN.
What does a check show me?
Photos from the day the car was sold at auction, the damage recorded then, the odometer reading, the title brand and the final bid — next to what the seller is telling you now.
